I am where I am today because I put myself out there in competitions. I firmly believe in order to say you are the best you need to prove it. – Fabio Sementilli, VP of Education Wella Professional
An avid supporter of mentorship, Fabio Sementilli kicked off the second day of the Fashion Frenzy weekend with an inspiring breakfast. Fabio spent several hours with our students sharing what they should look for in a personal mentor and answering their individual questions.
When several students expressed interest in becoming a session stylist and working in the editorial field, Fabio said,”Locality is not as important as your mentality.” He encouraged them to remain passionate, life-long learners.
With just 24 hours until the LIVE competition on the main stage at Intercoiffure’s Fall Atelier, the finalists headed upstairs to their model call.
Luis Alvarez, cofounder of Aquage, walked them through the entire process of casting the perfect model. Luis started by taking a digital and polaroid image of each model followed by having them walk in front of the group.
The girls were encouraged to touch the models’ hair and find the perfect look. Luis also spoke about the importance of a great face and walk and challenged them to really look at their model choices with a fresh perspective.
Afterwards a round table discussion was held and agencies and models were called. Nicole Fowler, 2014 NAHA Student of the Year, detailed the various things that must be talked over with modeling agencies and models prior to booking.
We rounded out the afternoon with Publisher of Modern Salon, Steve Reiss, a man who knows a thing or two about the editorial world.
An early dinner at the fabulous Dos Caminos with Rocky Vitelli of Farouk for an evening mentoring session before we rounded out the night. Farouk generously gifted each finalist with a brand new blow dryer and flat iron to use during the hands-on portion of the competition on Sunday.
It has already been a wild ride. We can’t wait to see who leaves Cosmoprof Fashion Frenzy 2014 the Grand Prize Winner!
